I'm not good at writing about myself. That said, my name is Laura Marie. I was born quite early in the morning on October 19th of 1980. I've lived in Rockland Massachusetts my entire life.
My interest in photography began the Fall of 2002. My mother lent me her ancient Nikon SLR and I was hooked after my first black-and-white shoot at the Cranberry Hospital. I'm completely self-taught and am constantly learning about the art.
My first camera, a gift from my mother, was a Nikon Coolpix 4300. All photos from 2003-early 2006 were taken on this. Unfortunately, my Coolpix met its demise in the summer of 2006. It was a great point-and-shoot and I miss it dearly.
In March of 2006, I decided to invest in a "real" camera. Being partial to Nikons, I ended up buying a D50. I love the dSLR and am constantly learning new little things about it. I don't leave the house without it, and thus far that's worked to my advantage.
Outside of photography I enjoy spending time with my wonderful fiance, James. We've been together since March 18th of 2006. He proposed to me on my 28th birthday, at
a beautiful inn in Maine. Every day I find something new that I love about him.
I read pretty much anything I get my hands on, but lately I've been leaning towards more history/non-fiction. Specifically WW2 and Russian history. I'm also a big fan of fiction, mainly Dean Koontz and the horror/mystery genre.
Musically, I'm rather eclectic. I love everything from death-metal/hardcore to emo and pop. James and I go to as many concerts as we can afford. There's nothing like the energy that comes from being in the mosh pit at a metal show. My favorite bands include Opeth, Katatonia, Vast, Nothingface, Snow Patrol and The Smashing Pumpkins.
I have had quite a few piercings, but have since removed the majority. A large portion of my body is covered with tattoos. I have a fascination with birds and have a considerable amount of them tattooed on me.
I maintain several jobs, including an administrative position in downtown Boston. I love what I do and am hoping to someday go back to school for a degree in my field. I once worked as a supervisor for Lindt Chocolate, despite my allergy to cocoa.
That's pretty much me in a nutshell. I can be contacted via email at
